Before chemo today I had a visit with the nurse practitioner. Same routine; nurses recorded vital signs, weight, then port accessed, and labs drawn. NP came in to discuss progress up to this point. I have been blessed to have a plan put in place by this medical team to handle side effects. The most concerning one today is the peripheral neuropathy in my feet, I had some leftover from my previous chemo 8 years ago. I’m having a little more now. I added the cooling socks and gloves to try to lessen this effect. Per the NP my doctor reduced the dose of my chemo meds for today’s treatment. This side effect is no joke, it can cause loss of function if it’s not caught in time. It is so very important to communicate what is going on with your body during treatment. Tell your medical team about ANY changes, it may be small things. I am as are all of you, important in this life. Be your own best advocate. Use every opportunity to give yourself the best possible chance at a great life. Halfway done with chemotherapy, moving on to this best life.
